Welcome to Will Buckingham’s home pages.
I am novelist based in Leeds, UK. My first novel, Cargo Fever, is published by Tindal Street Press.
I have a background in philosophy, and took a PhD in the subject at Staffordshire university, where I also taught for several years. Currently I am working on my second novel, putting together a proposal for a popular philosophy book, and teaching creative writing part-time at De Montfort University in Leicester. I’m also involved in a number of other literary, teaching and research projects.
I also have a few other websites of varying levels of obscurity. Tanimbar.org.uk is about the Tanimbar islands in Maluku, Indonesia. thinkBuddha.org is my Buddhish – Buddhish rather than Buddhist – blog for reflections on philosophy, ethics, literature and Buddhism. Until the end of 2007, I was also running Birmingham Words, a website, publishing project and literary community based in Birmingham. Birmingham Words is now being run by postgraduate students from the National Academy of Writing at Birmingham City University.
For infrequent updates on what I am doing, you can read my blog on this site. And if you want to read 2007’s finest novel about yeti-smuggling, then buy a copy of Cargo Fever.
