Research

My research background is in philosophy. I have a PhD in philosophy from Staffordshire University, where I worked on narrative and ethics. However, my research interests have a habit of spilling over boundaries, and I’m currently involved in the following projects:

  • Research into public art for ixia, a public art thinktank. This research is drawing not only upon my background in philosophy, but also in anthropology and fine arts / art history.
  • Research towards a book project on narrative and ethics. Although it might be fun writing PhDs (or it was in my case), they are little fun to read. I’m currently drawing on the work I did for my thesis to put together a book on narrative and ethics, which I’m writing more or less from scratch.
  • Cheerful materialism. Why so glum? I’ve long been interested in the relationship between scientific understandings and questions of how we might go about our lives. This project is currently inching towards the kind of proposal it might be respectable to send to a publisher.
