My writing work is mainly in fiction. My first novel, Cargo Fever is set in Indonesia, and published in the UK by Tindal Street Press. I am now beginning work on a second novel with a working title A Lament for Ivan Koulev. I also teach a wide variety of creative writing classes in and around Birmingham.

The first thing I do when I go to visit somebody is have a good look at their bookshelves. I can’t help myself. I just want to know what other people are reading. So I’ve included a currently reading list for those visitors who are as nosey as I am. And if you want to know about the writers I particularly admire, then have a look at my writers I love section.
