Previous Residencies, Workshops and Courses
I am a highly experienced workshop leader and I have worked on a range of residencies, long and short courses and workshops.
Residencies:
2005 – Heartlands Hospital: During my residency at Heartlands Hospital, I am working on the development of a Medical Humanities library, and also running a hospital staff writers’ group.
2005 Spooked: Six month residency working as co-ordinator of Spooked, an online writing project run by Anim8, the Birmingham City Council arts project, and based in the Three Estates in South Birmingham.
2004-2005 3EstatesLife Magazine: Short residency working on developing a reporters’ team at 3EstatesLife Magazine in Birmingham.
2004 Ninestiles School: One week intensive residency working with a 6th form drama group on writing and performing a devised drama piece based on the work of Aristophanes.
2003 AXIS: 10 week residency with AXIS, a Birmingham City Council mental health agency, leading a creative writing group.
Workshops:
2005 – WriteOn!: Schools writing workshops with the WriteOn! project, run by Book Communications, Birmingham.
2005 – NAGTY: I run occasional workshops for the National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth, held at the Botanical Gardens, Birmingham.
2004 Aston Hall: Family learning week creative writing course for children and adults.
2004 Erasmus Darwin House, Lichfield: Creative writing workshop.
2004 Cadbury College: Family learning week creative writing workshop.
Courses:
2004 – Birmingham Botanical Gardens: Writing fiction. A ten week course.
2004 – Cadbury College: I continue to run a range of short creative writing courses for Cadbury College, Birmingham.
2003 King’s Norton Library: Creative Writing Course run in conjunction with New Deal for Communities.
2002 – BAES: I run regular creative writing courses at the Birmingham Adult Education Service.
