Philosophical Soup

Soup

Any of you who have had an eye on my twitter feed will have noticed that I seem to be stewing away in the midst of some kind of philosophical soup at the moment. The reason for this is that I’m currently writing a couple of chapters on modern and contemporary philosophy for a forthcoming book from Dorling Kindersley. As the deadline has been rather tight, I’ve been spending my days and nights hanging out with the likes of Adorno, Habermas, Derrida, Wittgenstein, Richard Rorty, and friends. It has been fun, in the kind of masochistic way that philosophers understand fun, but also exhausting.

Anyway, the end is in sight, and I’m hoping that I’ll have the bulk of the writing done by next week, after which I’ll hopefully be restored to something more like normality, and will no longer be spotted walking down the street gibbering about deconstruction or muttering to myself about how the world is all that is the case.
