When I lived in Tainan, in the south of Taiwan, I was sometimes woken by the sound of somebody singing sweetly, a little way along the street. I never found out who the singer was, but sometimes it preoccupied me. And so I wrote this very short story, which has just been published in the Thirteen Bridges Review. I hope you enjoy it.
