Over at Wind&Bones Books, we’re very excited to have received funding from Creative Scotland to produce audio versions of the stories in our book, Tâigael: Stories from Taiwanese & Gaelic. The book brings together writers Naomi Sím, Elissa Hunter-Dorans, Kiú-kiong, and Lisa MacDonald to write new fiction in Taiwanese and Gaelic, and then to translate from Gaelic to English, Mandarin and Taiwanese, and vice versa.
We are looking forward to seeing the stories in print. But — more than this — we are really pleased that this will be complemented by audio versions of the stories, in all four languages. Languages live not just on the page, but also in the body, in the coming and going of the breath. And we are so excited that through the audio, the stories will reach a much wider audience.
