The Ubud Writers and Readers Festival kicked off last night, so over the next few days I’m going to be busy. Here’s a list of what I’m up to.
Thursday 25th October 6.15pm: Festival Club – A talk on my book Stealing With the Eyes and on art, adat, ancestors & anthropologists, witchcraft & weird foreigners, sickness, stomach octopuses & shit babies, colonialism & Christianity… Details here.
Friday 26th October 10.15am. Main Programme: Islands of Inspiration – Panel chaired by the lovely Annee Lawrence, with Carl Hoffman, Avara Yaron and Anuradha Roy. Details here.
Friday 26th October 1pm. Main Programme: The Big Read – Journeys (with Daisuke Takeya, Agustinus Wibowo, Jose Luis Peixoto, Carlo Pizzati, Jessie Cole, Jay Griffiths and Geoff Dyer). Details here.
Friday 26th October 6.30. Special Event: Long Table Dinner, Edible Indonesia. I’m with a bunch of writers, eating dinner. It’s performance art or something like that. Details here.
Sunday 28th October. Workshop: Writing and Ethics. I’ll be running a workshop on causing and overcoming trouble with words, along with my partner and collaborator, Hannah Stevens. Details here.
