Work With Me

If you’d like to work with me, get in touch! Here are some of the things I’m interested in.

Writing and Translation

I have years of experience as a writer of fiction and nonfiction, working with leading publishers including Hachette, Knopf, Routledge, Bloomsbury, DK Books and Granta Books. If there are any projects that you think might fit, I’d be delighted to hear from you.

I’m also a translator from Mandarin Chinese and, increasingly, Taiwanese Hokkien. I’m a translator for Taiwan Ministry of Culture’s Books from Taiwan, and have worked with everybody from the National Taiwan Museum, to curatorial teams, to clothing brands, to fiction writers.

Public Philosophy Projects

I have been running classes and public philosophy projects for over two decades, including bilingual philosophy salons in Taiwan and China, adult education classes, and online projects. I believe that philosophy is for everyone. If you want to talk about what I can do for you, get in touch!

Teaching, Workshops, and Lecturing

I have taught creative writing, philosophy and humanities courses, workshops and retreats all around the world, for a variety of audiences, from tenured professors to complete beginners, and from primary-aged children to older people.

Mentoring

I have mentored writers at all stage of their careers, on a variety of projects from academic to creative. I have also supervised PhDs in creative writing to completion, and worked as a PhD examiner in institutions internationally.

Curriculum Development

I love curriculum development. I developed the proposal, course outline and market research for what became a successful MA in Creative Writing at De Montfort University Leicester. At Parami University, Myanmar, I was on the committee developing curricula for the licensure process in Washington DC, and I am responsible for developing the curricula for Parami’s seminar class offerings, in collaboration with Bard College in the US. I have also developed curricula for the Open College of the Arts (UK), Mote Oo Education (Myanmar), and the Chinbridge Institute (Chin State, Myanmar).

Consultancy, Creative Projects and Other Fun Stuff

Over the years, I’ve worked with local authorities, arts centres, think-tanks, government bodies, festivals, museums, galleries, educational providers, businesses, individuals—in fact anybody who is interested in how creative writing and creative thinking can make the world a better place.

Have a look round my website, to see the kinds of things I get up to, and if you think it’s a good fit, get in touch.
