This week, with Wind&Bones, I embarked upon a new venture here in Sofia: a weekly café for writers and activists, which we’re running in collaboration with Greenpeace, Bulgaria.
Our first café was on Tuesday, and was loads of fun. We had tea, coffee and snacks, and ran a workshop on writing manifestos. I love manifestos as a form: what they lack in nuance, they make up for in boldness. In the session, we looked at a bunch of manifestos (including Giacomo Balla’s deliciously ricidulous 1917 Futurist Manifesto of Men’s Clothing), and then got participants to write their own.
Here are some pictures of us in full swing.
We’ve got some more fun sessions lined up for the coming weeks, and we’re planning to keep on with the café as long as we can, building a community of writers, activists and friends. Come along if you are based in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Thanks to Dennis Todorov for generously allowing us to use his photographs.
